FAQ

Are cars checked before purchasing ?
Yes. We make every effort to avoid buying cars that don't look great or have problems.

Are cars checked before they are shipped ?
Yes. After a car is purchased and they come into the garage they are stringently checked, paying special attention to engine, gearbox, electrics, wiper rubbers, brake's, belts, hoses and radiator. Engine Oil is changed.   Generally this check is enough - but on customers request more can be done, but will be charged extra for.

Can I cancel a car after confirming it ?
Yes - but PLEASE don't do it, think seriously before confirming. Cars bought in to order and then cancelled are subject to a 15% cancellation fee.

What do I do if my car arrives with a problem ?
We do all possible to ensure a problem car is not purchased - your problems become our problems, if you have a genuine claim, and pictures or paperwork  to cover your claim can be provided, we will do what we can to satisfy you.

Are cars cleaned before they leave ?
Yes. Before cars leave they are cleaned inside and out, so all you need to do after getting your car is clean off  dust accumulated in transit and drive !

Will my car arrive with good tyres ?
Yes.

Will my car arrive with a spare wheel and tool kit ?
Yes. But occasionally tool kits are stolen while car is in transit.

Will my car arrive with a good battery ?
Cars leave with good batteries, however due to time spent in transit they sometimes are "Dead" on arrival - usually a re-charge is enough to get them going again. New batteries purchased buyers side are not covered by P.E.S.

Will my car arrive with a stereo system ?
Not all cars are purchased with a stereo kit, at the very minimum cars will be shipped with at least a radio and a CD player . All effort is made to ensure stereo systems work before sending and unfortunately non working units are not covered by us. Please note however the incidence of non-working stereo's is extremely few, but for radios,  local frequencies are likely to differ from Japanese frequencies. An FM Expander can solve this problem - for more information go to: http://www.edl.co.nz/ConvertersHP/how-to-select.htm. Many of the cars we export also have GPS systems and TV's - these are unlikely to work overseas. Stereos are progressively becoming technologically advanced and user manuals in English are not  available for them.

Insurance and thefts.
All cars shipped have insurance cover however this does not cover theft of items like stereos, power switches or other parts. Before shipment we hide / lock parts that may be stolen but this is no guarantee against theft. We are unable to get an insurance here that covers theft of stereos/parts (We have tried) so if such a full cover insurance is wanted buyers have to try and obtain by themselves.
Thefts such as stated above do happen occasionally but are rare, when they do happen PES is not responsible for them and no claims for thefts will be accepted.

(Out of the last 100 cars shipped there has been  4 thefts - A Stereo, a main power switch, a set of tools and an air con component)

When sending cars to "risky" ports, if buyer requests, we can  remove the drivers door main power switch and hide / lock in the car along with the tools. The stereos are taped over - stereos can also be removed and hidden in the car - if buyer requests.
Ports presently at risk of thefts are African ports, Bangladesh, Dili and Papua New Guinea.

Is the car likely to have damage ?
No. However as they are used cars they may have light scratches and scuffs - these where possible are re-painted, if the car has very visible scratches or marks it will be stated on our website car information, and extra pictures will be sent on request.

Are crash repaired cars purchased ?
Not generally, but if they are it will be stated on the website that they have been repaired and an extra complete report will be available on request.

Are cars shipped before payment ?
No.

Can I pay using Credit Card, Letter of Credit or Cheque ?
Sorry - No. Bank to bank telegraphic transfer only.

When should I pay ?
As soon as possible - to ensure speedy processing.

When is paperwork sent ?
As soon as we receive the BL from shipping company, paperwork will be sent by courier.  (Provided  outstanding balances have been paid in full)

What if the car I want is not in stock ?
Cars not in stock can be purchased on your behalf provided deposit is paid -  please ask for extra details.

Do you supply drivers manuals in English ?
Unfortunately they cannot be supplied in languages except Japanese.  We have found the following company very useful in supplying English owners manuals to buyers. http://www.japaneseautospares.co.uk/index.htm

If I need parts at a later date will you supply them ?
Yes. New parts will be supplied and charged for.  Freighting of parts to be covered by buyer.

Can you supply containers of used parts & crashed cars ?
No.

How long will it take you to ship my car ?
This depends on shipping schedule and whether car is presently in stock. Please ask for extra information if required.

What does F.O.B. mean ?
This means the car is shipped without freight or insurance costs paid (Not possible for most ports)

What does C.I.F. mean ?
Means car is shipped with freight and insurance costs paid this side. Insurance we buy covers only damage in transit, it does not cover stolen parts, if a better insurance is wanted it must be obtained by the buyer.
